MBI EVERYDAY HERO – MARGARET BOURGEOIS-MULLER, KNOTS OF LOVE

EVERYDAY HEROES

MBI Makes a Difference recognizes that every little bit of giving back helps.  We want to use this portion of our blog to recognize individuals that make a difference in their communities.

January 2016

Everyday Hero:  Margaret Bourgeois-Muller – Yucaipa, CA
Organization:  Knots of LoveKnots of Love was established in 2005 by Margaret Bourgeois-Muller after a friend’s nine-year-old niece was diagnosed and hospitalized with a rare brain tumor.

Bourgeois-Muller and her daughters sent the friend a blanket for her stay in the hospital, and the idea grew from there into an annual event. “I was just so grateful to have healthy children and I wanted to do something for those who weren’t as fortunate.” she said.

Bourgeois-Muller planned the first event at her home and had approximately 15 ladies making 25 blankets and eight children making cards.  Knots of Love has grown each year and in December 2015, 120 volunteers showed up at a community center in Yucaipa, CA and met the goal of making 200 blankets to be distributed to children in hospitals.

Kudos to Margaret Bourgeois-Muller for her determination and hard work, creating an organization that spreads love (and warmth) to children that need comfort.  You are an inspiration!
